Skills for
Development
About Rachel
I
graduated
from
the
University
of
Queensland
with
a
Bachelor
of
Occupational
Therapy
in
2000.
I
have
practised
as
an
OT
since
then,
working
with
children
in
a
variety
of
settings,
adults
with
mental
illness
and
older
adults in their homes.
I
started
Skills
For
Development
when
I
lived
in
London
(2008-2012)
and
I
brought
it
back
to
Brisbane
when
it
was
time for me to return home and start my own family.
In
London
I
had
the
privilege
to
undertake
postgraduate
study
in
Ayres’
Sensory
Integration®
and
have
completed
my Post Graduate Diploma in SI.
Completing
my
Masters
is
‘on
my
list’…
but
playing
with
my
boys
seems
to
always
take
precedence!
Two
years
ago,
we
moved
to
our
little
oasis
in
Clear
Mountain,
with
a
flowing
creek
down
the
back
paddock…
I’ve
never
caught
(and
released)
as
many
guppies
and
tiny
crayfish!
Beautiful, distracting nature!
I
am
currently
working
for
Skills
a
couple
of
days
a
week,
to
serve
some
children
and
families,
while
also
making
time for my own.
We
have
8
chickens,
1
dog,
a
native
beehive,
a
worm
farm
and,
if
my
boys
could
have
their
wish
in
the
near-future,
some sort of reptile.
My
dream
is
to
welcome
children
and
families
to
our
property
for
nature-based
therapy,
to
share
our
little
slice
of
paradise
(although
my
nightmare
is
that
someone
would
get
bitten
by
a
spider…
until
we
work
out
how
to
lure the spiders away, it might remain a dream!).
